| Known as Chocolate City USA because of the Nestle Chocolate Factory, Burlington is located about 45 minutes from downtown Milwaukee via four-lane Highway 36. A community of over 10,000 people (with over 50,000 in a 10-mile radius around the city), Burlington has extensive shopping areas, including such nationally known stores as Wal-Mart Supercenter, Menards, Kmart, and a soon-to-be-built Walgreens. It is also within 30 minutes of Racine, Kenosha and Milwaukee shopping centers. Every Memorial Day weekend, the city hosts its annual ChocolateFest, which draws tens of thousands of guests over the four-day event. The event features many area bands, the Miss ChocolateFest Pageant (in which the winner participates in the Miss Wisconsin Pageant), and lots and lots of chocolate. The city is also known for the Burlington Liars Club, which annually gives a Best Lie of the Year Award from among hundreds of entries. |
