| Hampton Beach New Hampshire held its Seventh Annual Sand Sculpture Contest this past week, June 19th through 23rd, 2007, as part of its 100th Anniversary of the Hampton Beach Village in Hampton NH. There were 10 tons of sand delivered for each master sculptor competitor. Those 10 ton piles were each pounded to a 20 foot tall mound, and the carving began from there. The voting was done on Saturday, June 23rd, with the awards ceremony that same night. The Awards Ceremony was followed by a beautiful display of fireworks. The prizes for the master sculptors totaled $15,000, and there was also a People's Choice Award as well. Viewing was open all week long, and there were free lessons given, too. |
