Even today, Youngsville reflects much of the beauty that attracted French Acadian farmers here in the early 1800's. St. Anne Catholic Church is one of the oldest Catholic Churches in Lafayette Parish.
In 1908, the community had grown to Village status and the name “Youngsville,†(young village) was formed and incorporated from the previous name "Royville." Development continued! In 1983, the village was declared a town. It was the fastest growing town in Louisiana from 1990 to 2005 with a population increase of over 300%! This caused Governor Kathleen Blanco to name the town a city. Youngsville retains its rural flavor while enjoying its proximity to the City of Lafayette, which is also the parish seat.
